Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington, an independent Liberal news site is a popular TV show host, author, and charitable donor. Originating from Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England along with her family members at age 16. At Cambridge University she earned a MA qualification in Economics. She was the first person non-UK to hold the office of president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. In the years following after her college graduation, she was an influential conservative syndicated journalist. A few more years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political scene. Her fame helped to attract several well-known contributors to post their perspectives about politics, news and the arts. Arianna gained fame following her decision to run as an independent presidential candidate during the California recall vote to succeed the Governor Davis. Alongside this she was also the director of the Detroit Project for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. In 2009, she was ranked by Forbes as one of the most influential women in media. She was ranked 12th spot on the list. The same year the Guardian named her to the top 100 of the media lists. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the president of the media group and also owned the other AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she had a close connection to both her mother and father and father, it was their relationship which shaped her. In her earliest years, she displayed the qualities of a leader for which she has gained a reputation. When she moved to England, she was age 16 to complete her schooling and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She joined The Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college, where she was the 3rd and only female to be elected the president. In 1972 she graduated with a master's degree in Economics. In the years following after graduation she was a television presenter and columnist. She also appeared together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
